Check in for class

Important reminders for class:

Attire:

Synapse Arts does not have a dress code, however we ask that your child wear comfortable clothes that they can move safely in. Ballet clothes/outfits are encouraged for ballet classes and long pants or knee pads are encouraged for hip hop classes; if you have any questions about recommended attire please ask your teacher. If you need dance attire, please visit our DanceWear Share Library on the first floor of Loyola Park for free dancewear!

Bathrooms:

Our teaching artists will NOT be able to assist your child in using the bathroom before or during class. If your child is unable to use the bathroom by themselves, please make sure you are available to assist them during class if needed. We highly recommend that students use the bathroom before class!

Photos:

We do occasionally take photos of students during class to share on our marketing materials and social media, as is allowed by the media release you signed as part of your Park District registration. We will make every effort to check with you before taking photos of your child; if you have any questions or do NOT want us to use photos of your child please let us know asap.

Health and Wellness:

Please do not send your child to class if they are sick! If they are recovering from being sick, have mild symptoms, or have had a recent exposure to a communicable illness, please have them wear a mask if possible. Several of our teachers also teach younger students such as infants and toddlers, and we want to make sure they don't become carriers of illness to young or immunocompromised students. Masking is a great way for us to prevent those pesky colds from spreading! The CDC currently recommends that people who test positive for COVID 19 stay home for at least 5 days and wear masks indoors for at least 10 days, assuming their symptoms improve. We encourage all of our students and their families to consider this guidance when trying to judge whether or not to attend class/wear a mask. *Vaccinations, including COVID and flu, are strongly recommended. We ask that if your child is not vaccinated that they wear a mask during class.* If you are looking for vaccination resources for your child, you can find information on Chicago’s free vaccination clinic in Uptown as well as other options here: CPDH Immunization Clinics.

The Chicago Park District and Chicago Department of Public Health strongly recommend individuals:

  • Stay up to date with COVID-19 vaccines.
  • Get tested if you have symptoms.
  • Follow all isolation guidance, including wearing a face mask.
  • If you are at high risk for severe illness, talk to your healthcare provider about whether you need to wear a mask and take other precautions.

Please see the Park District‘s full COVID policy here

If you have any questions about anything above please don't hesitate to ask your teacher after class or to contact me. Our highest priority is making dance classes a comfortable and fun experience for everyone, so please let us know if there is anything we can do to support you!
